Gustav Landauer

Gustav Landauer (1870–1919) was a German anarchist thinker and activist who emphasized the cultural and spiritual dimensions of social change. He briefly participated in the Bavarian Soviet Republic before being killed in its suppression.

Landauer saw the state not as a thing to be overthrown, but as a relationship to be dissolved. His utopia was a network of intentional communities and cooperative relationships that gradually replace hierarchical institutions through lived practice.
